Frequently asked questions

We've heard that you had a shop selling mid-century modern furniture as well as your own range of furniture?

Once-upon-a-time we had a brick and mortar store selling predominantly original mid-century modern furniture, as well as a small range of furniture which we manufactured ourselves and a curated selection of homeware from local South African makers and artists. These days our brick and mortar shop has closed it doors and you will find us online selling predominantly the range of furniture that we manufacture ourselves - which has grown considerably - as well as the odd vintage piece we can't resist picking up and sometimes you may even find artwork and wares by the most talented South Africans we know and love. But mostly, you'll find our own range of contemporary and mid-century inspired furniture, made lovingly by our special team in our factory in Woodstock, Cape Town.

Do you have a showroom?

Yes, we have a small showroom attached to our factory. Although you are welcome to pop in unannounced if you are in the area, we prefer you to contact us ahead of time, just to ensure that the right person is here to help you. You can contact us here to set up an appointment.

How long will my order take to complete?

If the item is in stock it will be dispatched within 3 business days. If not, unless otherwise specified , our turn-around time on standard items is within 4 weeks from the date we receive your payment confirmation, this excludes delivery time. This lead time may change depending on the time of year, material shortages or other constraints, but we will always communicate this to you and getting your order to you will remain our priority.

How long will the delivery take?

Once your order is complete and ready for shipment, we will communicate this information to you via email.

You can use the following times as a rough guide: Cape Town and immediate surrounds - 1 day, other main centers throughout South Africa - 3 to 5 days, outlying areas - 3 to7 days.

Despite the above guide, the delivery dates given by us in advance are estimated. We will endeavor to get the goods to you as estimated, but cannot be held liable for delays beyond our control.

Can I arrange collection from your factory?

Absolutely. Once your order is ready we will let you know via email and get your order wrapped for you to collect at your convenience. Find our physical address on our contact page.

I have changed my mind - do you accept returns?

Please contact us should you wish to return a purchase.  If your return is accepted, we will let you know and you will then need to return the item wrapped and in the same condition that it left our factory, within 14 days from when it was delivered to your premises, at your own expense.

We will refund you within 7 days of the item arriving back at our factory in perfect condition, less a 10% administration fee. We cannot refund you for items not returned to us 14 days after your delivery was made. All delivery costs are non-refundable.

Damages or defects

Please inspect your order fully as soon as it is delivered to you and contact us within 7 days if there are any issues. Please include images so that we can make an assessment and provide you with a solution as quickly as possible.

Exceptions and non-returnable items

We can unfortunately not accept refunds or returns on sale items, bespoke/customised items and gift cards.

Can you customise your standard products?

We offer the option of personalising our standard pieces with various colours, two different timber options and you can adjust the sizes to fit your needs.

Do you make completely bespoke items?

Depending on how busy our workshop is, we may elect to take on some bespoke work and we will add a surcharge accordingly. Contact us,  it may be your lucky day!

What is wood veneer?

Most of our furniture is made up of a mixture of solid wood and wood veneer. A wood veneer is sometimes mistakenly assumed to be inferior to solid wood. However, it is often used for high-end furniture pieces. Veneering is an art that dates back to ancient Egyptian times when veneers were used on their furniture and sarcophagi.

A wood veneer, is often more affordable than solid timber. It is more readily available as lots of thin slices are cut from a single piece of wood and it is a far more eco-friendly and sustainable product.

It is typically made up of a thin layer of natural hardwood, that is then bonded to a stable composite base material which means the surface isn’t prone to warping or splitting. If cared for correctly, wood veneer can last a life time. Most mid-century modern furniture is made from wood veneers and look how much of that is still around 70 years later!

Please contact us should you have any questions we have not covered here.
